Wesley A. Schirmer

Rev. Wesley A. Schirmer passed away on June 29, 2025.

Wesley was born to Robert and Clara (Giese) Schirmer on February 9, 1931 in Coleman, WI. He graduated from Coleman HS in 1949, UW Lacrosse in 1972, and Dubuque Theological in 1975. He married Jeanne Kirt in 1954 and they celebrated 59 joyful years together. He worked in various business managements until becoming a United Methodist Clergy in 1968. He served churches in Trempealeau, Belmont-Whig, Sherman Ave, Madison, Lake Mills, and retired from Tomah in 1996. He served as a part time Visitation Pastor for the Onalaska United Methodist Church until moving to Madison in 2010.

He is survived by sons David (Loraine), Jeffrey (Lani) and daughter Eileen Schwenn. He is survived by 11 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Othelia (Don) Niles. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne, his parents Robert and Clara, daughter Diane Flynn, and sisters Katherine and Charlotte.

 A 10:30am visitation will be held at the Sun Prairie United Methodist Church on Monday, July 7th, followed by a service at 11am. Inurnment will take place at a later time in the Onalaska City Cemetery in Onalaska, WI.
