Violet May Kennedy, age 101 formerly of Ladysmith currently of Eau Claire passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Ladysmith, WI.
Violet was born November 30, 1923, in Ladysmith, WI to George and Vivian (Clark) Martin. She attended Ladysmith schools and after graduation worked for Peavey Papermill in Ladysmith. She married Joseph B. Kennedy in Black River Falls, WI on November 25, 1946.
Her life was devoted to being a loving wife, mother, homemaker, and a caring friend to all that came to visit. Violet enjoyed gardening, reading, bingo, crossword puzzles, and feeding the birds. She enjoyed cooking meals for the family, especially her homemade baked beans, buns, and many kinds of delicious desserts. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her great grandchildren.
Violet, will be dearly missed by her family who survive her, including her son Joe (Tari) Kennedy, her sister Beatrice (Kenneth) Olson, grandchildren, Shaun (Kristi) Kennedy, and Jason (Jessica) Kennedy, six great grandchildren, Caden, Brielle, Beckett, Reese, Scarlett, Vivienne and many nieces and nephews. Violet was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters Ferndel (Russ) Burns, Bernice (Alex) Staponkus and many cousins.
Out of respect for Violet’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Memorial visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 1-3 pm. Private Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to a charity of your choice.
