Thomas "Tom" G. W. Simons

Thomas “Tom” George Walter Simons, age 81 of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly on January 2, 2025.  Thomas was born on September 14, 1943 to Thomas and Lucille Simons (Binneboese) in Glendale, CA. He soon moved to Sioux City Iowa where he attended Grant Elementary.  When his father passed away his mother remarried Louie Reimann. He attended middle school and high school in Glenwood City, WI.  After graduating from Glenwood High School, he served 3 years in the Army as a Medic.

He married Patricia A. Hoff on June 21, 1969.  They had 2 daughters and a son.  He worked for 21 years as a tire builder at Uniroyal until the plant closed in 1992.  He then completed the Truck Driving course at CVTC and drove semi for a few years. 

Tom was very handy and was always willing to help his family.  He enjoyed watching the grandpets when his children were away. He also liked to go fishing and every summer he attended truck and tractor pulls with his children and grandchildren.  He had a love for fast cars and was part of the pit crew for his son and grandson when they raced. He was very competitive and didn’t like losing in bean bags or on the pool table. Tom enjoyed his retirement playing pool at Slim’s, Happy Hollow, Do Dodge, and The Joint. 

He is survived by his children, Teresa (Shawn) Myers, Tracey Simons (Nordell Young), and Thomas Scott Simons all of Eau Claire; his grandchildren Keenan Myers (Tymber), Kylie Myers, and Landon Simons; great granddaughter Amiah Myers.

Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Patricia, his parents, and his sister Sharon.

Tom will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, in-laws, and of course his pool playing friends who knew him as “Last Pocket Tom.”

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM, Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Hulke Family Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in the township of New Haven at a later date.
