Stephen M. Jackson

Steve Jackson of Eau Claire, age 72, died peacefully at home with family by his side on Sunday January 22nd, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and MaryJane (Fredrickson) Jackson, as well as his loving wife, Sue (Streich) Jackson. Steve was born on April 4th 1950 in Gary, Indiana. His family moved to Milwaukee WI  where he spent his formative years and met his first wife, Nancy (Clark) Jackson. 

After high school he moved to Madison, WI to attend the University of Wisconsin where he received both his undergraduate degree in Economics as well as his Law degree. In 1976 Steve & Nancy married, adopting their daughters Jessica in 1984 and Sarah in 1986. Steve married his second wife and soulmate, Sue, in 1995. 

Steve worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Wisconsin from 1976 until going into private practice emphasizing worker’s compensation in Eau Claire in 1991.  Steve was a man of strong convictions; he fought his whole life for those being bullied; from the school yard of Pulaski High School to defending injured workers from the depredations of employers and insurance companies. Steve was an exceptional attorney and there were none better in his field.  He always put his client’s interest first, obtaining extraordinary results.

An avid reader, Steve also took pleasure in fishing, bowling, watching Badger football as an alum and Packer football as a Shareholder. He also enjoyed NASCAR, walking his dogs in the woods and always reading. For more than 45 years he & his best friend, Roy Sass, as well as others including his brother Terry & nephew Casey Jackson, made a biannual camping & fishing trip to islands in the Flambeau Flowage each spring & fall. His friends and family will miss his wit, teasing, & legendary bull. 

Steve is survived by his daughters: Jessica (Jackson) Bach, (Ben Bach), and Sarah Jackson, stepdaughter: Angel (Streich) Kamoske, (Greg Kamoske), stepson: Jim Streich, (Shannon Streich), as well as grandchildren: Walter, Thomas, Albert, & Hattie Bach, Isabel Jackson, Sydney & Colter Streich, & Finley Kamoske, as well as his brother Terry Jackson (Judy Jackson), nephew, Casey Jackson, niece, Cheryl Jackson (Josh Sanders), as well as his most loyal companion to the very end, Rudy, his big sweet yellow lab.
