Skip Lea, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on March 14 at the Eau Claire home he shared with longtime partner, Sandy Shong.
Skip was born on May 5, 1951, to Maxine and Buster Lea of Alma Center. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Alma Center and went on to work in the Lea Brothers family business. He then owned his own semi truck and spent a good amount of time traveling the highways, from coast to coast. In recent years, he was employed by Allstate Peterbilt.
Skip is survived by three daughters, Billie Jo Lea (Mike), Amber Lea (Dustin) and Jenna Lea (Cody). He is further survived by three sisters, Pat Faldet, Barb Fuller (Mark) and Dixie Lea (Bill). He will be greatly missed by his partner of many years, Sandy Shong and her children, Andrew Shong (Diana), Phillip Shong (Amber), Rachel May (Brandon) and Isaac Shong (Alisha). Skip was a favorite uncle and grandpa to many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Buster Lea as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Many patients have already been the benefactors of Skip’s decision to be an organ donor. A private family gathering has been held and it was Skip’s wish that there be no funeral. A
public Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
Skip will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. The moles on Langdell Road, however, are very happy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family (Sandy Shong, W6002 Langdell Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701).
