Robert L. Saxe passed away peacefully at home in his sleep on Thursday, February 23, at the age of 79.
Bob was born on April 26, 1943 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Willard L. and Ilene A. (Lunderville).
He graduated from Memorial High School and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He played basketball and football in high school. After high school, he refereed basketball and football for many years in the area. Bob worked and taught at the Eau Claire Academy. While teaching he started the first Physical Education program for emotionally disturbed children in the country. Bob eventually retired from the US Army. He spent many hours reading and was an avid gun collector and hunter.
He is survived by his wife, Susan, and daughter Elizabeth (Neil) Marshall of Green Bay, sons John (Gwendolyn) and Patrick (Jennifer), grandson Timothy all of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and granddaughter Katharyn of Carlsbad CA, sister Barbara (Howard) Gotz, Hibbing, MN, brother Steven (Lynn) Duluth, MN nieces, and nephews.
Services with Military Honors will take place at Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire sometime in May. The family will announce the date and time closer to that time.
