Richard Leroy Goodman

Richard Leroy Goodman, age 84, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025. He was born on November 11, 1940, in Cokato Village, Minnesota, to Edna Bertha Schmidt and Raymond Leroy Goodman.

A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Richard served his country with honor before settling into the role he cherished most—being a devoted husband, father, and family man. He was married to the love of his life, Joan, for over 60 years. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family values on a dairy farm in Clayton, where they raised their four children.

After retiring from farming, Richard and his son Christopher started and operated CR Construction from 2003 to 2010. He took great pride in the work they did together and enjoyed the opportunity to continue building and creating in a new chapter of life.

Richard had a deep love for all things cars and trucks and could often be found watching his favorite shows or spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

He is survived by his children: Tammi Hanawalt (Chris), Ronald Goodman (Paula), Sheri Goodman (Jeff), and Christopher Goodman (My Nou).  He is survived by his only grandchild: Aiden Hanawalt.  He was preceded in death by his wife Joan, parents, Raymond and Edna, and his brother, Jim Goodman.

Funeral services for Richard will take place at 11 am on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Hulke Family Funeral Home.  Visitation will take place that day at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service.  Interment with military honors will take place at 2 pm that afternoon at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.    

Monetary donations to the family may be made at the service or directly to Christopher and My Nou Goodman.

Richard’s legacy of love, resilience, and dedication lives on in all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
