Raymond "Ray" A. Hansen age 85 of Eau Claire passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at his home while under hospice care.
Ray was born December 16, 1940 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Frank and Elsie Hansen. Ray was preceded in death by his father Frank Hansen and his mother Elsie Hansen, his sister Mary and her husband Jerry Paulsen of North Carolina. Ray is survived by his immediate family of his wife Dawna, son Michael and his wife Amy of Arcadia, son Jay and his wife Melissa of Appleton, and step son Bruce of Fairchild, plus six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several cousins.
Ray was a professor at Stout and a gifted teacher. He taught at Stout for 33 years. He also developed curriculum, training materials, spoke at national conferences and consulted with manufacturing companies. He and his wife ran Hansen and Associates Educational Service, Inc. where Ray's knowledge and teaching abilities brought significant improvements to how the leadership in manufacturing analyzed their business, made decisions and implemented solutions.
Ray was a man who respected learning and sought higher levels of education and learning in his life. He held a Bachelors and Masers Degree from University of Wisconsin Stout in Industrial Engineering and Management, and a PhD. from University of Madison in Education in the areas of Industry and Technology. He was Assistant Director of Moraine Park Technical College and Administrator of the Bever Dam campus. He also held the coveted position of a certified Jonah's Jonah from The Goldratt Institute headquartered in Israel and New Haven, CT. The Goldratt Institute was known for its new and innovative thinking and problem solving as applied to manufacturing resulting in saving many companies on the path of going out of business or downsizing. This became the core of Ray's business and success in his work with companies nationally.
Ray's love for a challenge and thinking through mechanical situations, brought him to sailing and owning a 28 foot sail boat and later a Piper Cherokee 140 airplane. He also did scuba diving in the Pacific and off the coast of Mexico. In addition, Ray liked to bird hunt and did competitive cowboy action shooting for many years. Ray loved the outdoors and would also back pack and canoe whenever he could.
However, what Ray would say was the most important and meaningful part of his life was that he was a born-again Christian and loved Jesus. He used his gifts of teaching and administration in serving at Word of Life and Bethesda churches.
Funeral service for Ray will take place at 2:30 pm, on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Hulke Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Schippers officiating. Visitation will take place on that day at the funeral home from 1 pm until the time of service.
