Peter Larry Johnson, 70, died peacefully at his home on June 19, 2023, with his only surviving daughter, Jessica, and granddaughters Molly and Megan Blood at his side. His only grandson Seth Blood is a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps currently stationed in Japan and was unable to be at his side when he passed but will be here to say his own good-bye on Monday at the visitation.
Pete was born March 27, 1953, to Bill and Dagny (Musum) Johnson. Pete attended Randall, Central Jr. High, and memorial High Schools. He married Linda (Sherman) on August 18, 1973, in Eau Claire. Together they had and raised two daughters, Jessica Lynn and Julie Ruth in Eau Claire. In the late 1990’s, Pete and Linda bought their dream home on the water that they had seen over a decade earlier and fell in love with. Pete spent so many hours of his life fishing, canoeing, playing with his grandchildren while swimming and tubing in the river and looking for toads in the woods. These precious memories will never be forgotten.
Pete learned to play the guitar when most kids were learning to ride on 2 wheels. Music was always there for him, whether it was someone else’s song playing or his own hands strumming a tune on the guitar.
He would fill countless days playing one of his many guitars and looking up new sheet music for any song that his heart desired. If one was looking for the soundtrack that accompanied his life, there would be him playing guitar, a burger sizzing on the grill, and the sounds of his grandchildren laughing and squealing with delight.
Pete hosted many camping parties at his house on N Shore Drive and invited many of his, Linda’s, and Jessica’s friends and family creating memories that will last a lifetime in the hearts of those who were there.
Pete worked many jobs during his life and most recently worked as an electrician, primarily at Roshell Electric, until he retired in 2014.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie Ruth Johnson when she was just 18, wife Linda Kay Johnson (2015 after a short but harsh cancer battle), parents Bill and Dagny Johnson, brothers Tom and Alan Johnson, niece Danette Payne, mother and father-in-law Bill and Alice Sherman.
He is survived by daughter Jessica, grandchildren Molly, Seth, and Megan Blood, sister Diane (Quentin) Nelson, his incredible dog, Princess, and countless other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Pete will be missed so very much by everyone who ever met him. Pete had an infectious spirit that shone through in everything he did and just exuded joy. His sense of humor was boundless and his laugh and smile infectious.
We thank everyone who played a part in Pete’s life, with all of us having such dear memories of him, he will never be forgotten.
