Mary Jo (Woletz) (Blodgett) Anderson, age 84, passed away October 6, 2023, in Eau Claire, WI due to complications from dementia.
She was born on August 18, 1939, in Eau Claire to Joe and Elois (Nelson) Woletz. Mary Jo obtained both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Speech Pathology from the University of WI-Eau Claire after having her 5 children. Her work took her to various places to live and explore including Wisconsin, Minnesota, the Mariana Islands, Florida, and Las Vegas. Until her recent move back to Eau Claire, she resided in McKinney, TX for the last 7 years.
Mary Jo had an adventurous spirit, loved the ocean, became a dive master while living on the islands, loved to travel, and thrived in warm weather. Eating ice cream was one of her favorite past times. Being an expert knitter for most of her life, she shared her skills by teaching knitting classes in many of the communities she lived in. Mary Jo was intelligent, creative, and always curious about trying new things.
Mary Jo is survived by her five children Andy Blodgett (Jackie) of Tomahawk, Mike Blodgett (Tami) of Chippewa Falls, Laura Blodgett (Frank Pazera) of Denver, Steve Blodgett (Karen) of Eau Claire, and Tom Blodgett (Pat) of McKinney, TX. From her first marriage to Jerry Blodgett, Mary Jo has 11 grandchildren and 5.5 great grant children (one on the way.) She is also survived by siblings Judie Peterson of Cody, WY, Patricia Linhoff of Bonita Springs, FL, Richard Woletz of Drummond, WI, and Steve Woletz (Karen) of Minneapolis and her dear friends Vonnie and Ken Butak.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Jean Fitzgerald and ex-husbands Jerry Blodgett and Phillip Anderson.
