Margaret A. Giese

Margaret Arline (Bauer) Giese, 94, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 of natural causes.  

Margaret was born on April 18, 1930, the fourth daughter of Edward and Hannah (Vogler) Bauer. She grew up on the family farm in Pepin County and attended Lima grade and high schools. Like many teens at that time, she quit high school at 16 and went to work. She was a waitress at Cal’s Restaurant in Durand, and later at Bud’s Bar and Grill in Eau Claire. She enjoyed working with people and making new friends. She was very religious, never missing Sunday Mass. 

Margaret was united in marriage with Roland Giese on December 26, 1964, in Kenosha, WI.  Together they purchased the Giese family farm located off County Road F, south of Eau Claire. It is in this area that they created the Giese Subdivision working together building homes. 

Margaret is survived by her brother Edmund J. Bauer and his wife Marjorie of Durand.  She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sisters and brother in laws, Anna Marie (Chester) Bien, Gertrude (Bernom) King, and Pauline (Charles) Buchhotlz, and sister-in- law, Carole Bauer.  

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the hospice team at Azura Memory Care and to Margaret’s church family at Sacred Heart Church of Jesus Christ in Eau Claire, WI.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Sacred Heart Church with the burial to follow at Holy Rosary - Lima Church in Durand WI at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be one hour before the service begins at 9:30.
