Kent Kattestad of Eau Claire, Wisconsin age 76 passed away on May 31st, at home surrounded by family and under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. After a year-long battle with lung cancer he went home to be with the Lord.
Kent was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on January 4, 1947 to John and Marjorie (Lane) Kattestad. He graduated from North High School in 1965. After high school Kent joined the Army National Guard, he also worked at Presto Industry. Kent began working for the City of Eau Claire, in 1967, retiring after 38 years.
Kent married Renee Thompson in 1967, they later divorced. They had two children, Steven Kattestad (Toni) of Kimberly, Wisconsin and Lisa Hackler (Lyle) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. On October 4, 1975 he married Kathleen (Kathy) Muldoon, they were married for 47½ years. Together they raised two daughters, Margaret (Peggy) Goshaw (Daniel) of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Kelly Quade (Nathan) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
Kent enjoyed driving his red Mustang convertible and took great pride in caring for his lawn. He loved spending time with his family and many fun hours around the fire pit in the backyard. He loved the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, but really loved watching any sports. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cheering them on in all of their activities, even facetiming near the end.
Kent is survived by his wife, Kathy, his children, Lisa Hackler (Lyle) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Steven Kattestad (Toni) of Kimberly, Wisconsin, Peggy Goshaw (Daniel) of Maple Grove, Minnesota, and Kelly Quade (Nathan) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. His brother, Scott Kattestad (Barbara) of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, brother-in-law John Muldoon (Roxanne) of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and grandchildren Kelsey Anderson (Luke), Austin Kattestad (Stephany), Joshua Kattestad (Brianna), Sophia Kattestad, Dawson, Tanner, and Savannah Quade, Devin, Cullen, and Teagan Goshaw, and great children Jackson and Lucas Kattestad and Julia and Hank Anderson and his nieces Jennifer and Amy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, aunts and uncles.
A mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 am on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Father Francis Thadathil officiating. Memorial visitation will take place at the church Thursday morning from 10 am until the time of service. Inurnment with military honors will take place in the St. Patrick Catholic Church Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the funeral service.
