Karen J. Johnson

It is with deep sorrow and love that we mourn the passing of Karen J. Johnson of Eau Claire on January 3rd at the age of 87.  She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother known for her kindness, gentleness and friendliness.  She filled our lives with much love and laughter.  Karen was born in Durand WI on November 28th, 1938.  She graduated from Durand High School and attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Golden Valley MN. 

On April 28th, 1962, Karen married Eugene (Gene) Johnson, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in Rock Falls WI, they spent their remaining years together raising a family in Eau Claire.  She spent most of her life working in the banking industry as a loan processor in Durand and Eau Claire.  Karen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.  She loved her flowers, birds, nature, music and fishing with Gene. 

Karen and Gene spent 10 winters in Apache Junction AZ, their summers were mostly spent up north at Long Lake fishing and relaxing with friends.

Karen will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gene of 63 years; Children, Renee (Jeremy) Rageth, Clint Johnson; grandchildren, Jessica Rageth, Caitlin (Justin) Rossow, Noah Johnson.  Sisters; Sylvia Bauer, Jane (Jack) Weber, Estella (Richard) Bauer, Brothers; Conrad (Betty) and Roger (Judy) Catt; Brother-In-Law Lonnie Diesing, Brother-In-Law Michael (Holly) Doverspike, , Brother-In-Law Mitch (JoAnne) Doverspike; Sister-In-Law Debbie Goss, Sister-In-Law Janice (Ed) Eckwright.

Preceded in death by her parents Cyrus and Anna (Jevne) Catt, Sister Debra Diesing, Father-in-law Lloyd W. Johnson, Mother-in-Law, Marcella Johnson Doverspike, Father-in-Law Kenneth Doverspike, Brother-in-Law Ronald J. Bauer and Daughter-in-law Patty Johnson.

Memorial service for Karen will take place at 11 am on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.  Visitation will take place that day from 10 am until the time of service.  Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire.
