John Bradley Nayes, age 76, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
Brad was born on December 27, 1949, in Wisconsin to John and Lois Nayes. He grew up in Chetek and graduated from Chetek High School with the Class of 1968.
Following high school, Brad proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, spending a year overseas. During his military service in Vietnam, he worked as a road engineer and heavy equipment operator.
Brad's life changed when he met the love of his life, Cheri, who was working as a Restaurant Manager, while Brad was the "Beer Man" for Miller. They were married in 1992, sharing 34 wonderful years together.
Brad was happiest when he was outdoors or working with his hands. He loved fishing, hunting, remodeling projects, home improvement, and could always be found tinkering with something. He especially treasured spending time with his family and relaxing at the lake.
A devoted sports fan, Brad rarely missed a game. He enjoyed watching just about every sport, but his heart belonged to the Green Bay Packers and the Minnesota Twins. A true Wisconsinite, he was a proud Cheesehead through and through.
Last summer, Brad and Cheri made Eau Claire their home again, where they looked forward to this next chapter together.
Brad was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lois Nayes; his parents-in-law, Ron and CarLyn Anderson; his brother-in-laws, Merlin Dodge, Jack Kreutz, and Steve Anderson.
Brad is lovingly survived by his wife, Cheri; his children, Nicki (Jake) Schmidt and Pat (Alexa) Sax; his cherished grandchildren, Madison and Peyton; his siblings, Vicki Dodge, Jana Kreutz, Jeff Nayes, Scott Nayes, and Julie (Mike) Pierson; and his brother-in-law, Tom (Allison) Anderson; along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of St. Croix Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Brad and his family during his final journey. Your compassion and dedication will always be remembered.
