Janell Y. Wegan

Janell Y. Wegan, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on June 9, 1936, Janell lived a life defined by devotion to family, resilience in the face of challenges, and a determination to keep moving forward even when the path was tough. She raised her children during a time when much was asked of women, often putting the needs of others before her own.

Those who knew Janell often commented on her remarkable resilience, sometimes saying she seemed to have “nine lives.” Through surgeries and countless health challenges, she continued to persevere, surprising even her closest loved ones. Despite many hardships, she kept a sharp wit and a sense of humor that her loved ones will always remember.

She was preceded in death by her son, Ron; her first husband, Adolph T. Forland; and her second husband, Leo M. Wegan.

She is survived by her children, Colleen, Vicki (Steve), and Denise (Ken); her sister, Pam, her last remaining sibling; her grandchildren, Joy, Jennie, Kelly, Allison, Shannon, Krisha, Zachary, Andrea, Nicholas, Derek, Amanda, and Chad; as well as her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the medical teams and caregivers who supported Janell with compassion, as well as those who offered kindness and presence during her final days.

Janell will be remembered for her endurance, her complex humanity, and the life she gave to her family.
