Jane Steinhauer - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister - peacefully went to be with Jesus with her family by her side, on October 17, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Jane was born to John and Anita Tandberg on September 2, 1954 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1972.
On August 26, 1972, Jane married Clayton Steinhauer and they recently celebrated 52 years of marriage.
Jane's life was filled with music. As a young child, she spent countless hours learning to play piano in the basement of her grandfather, Grover Burns. She traveled and sang with her family for many years, singing gospel songs that touched many lives. They recorded a gospel album in Nashville, TN when Jane was 14. Her strong alto vocals can be heard on many tracks.
Throughout her life, Jane led music in her church. She directed choirs, dramas, sang, and played the organ, accompanied by her mother and later her sister on piano. Jane was a skilled musician and faithfully served her church for many years.
Jane loved her home in rural Eau Claire. She never wanted to leave it. She had a large raspberry patch and always shared her famous homemade jam with loved ones and friends.
Jane will be greatly missed by her family: loving husband, Clayton Steinhauer; their children: Lisa Steinhauer, Brenda (Frank) Best, Michael (Kathlene) Steinhauer; their six grandchildren: Laura Steinhauer, Arshea (Samuel) Buck, Dillon Best, Damian Best, Benjamin Steinhauer, Emma Steinhauer; her sister, Julie (Paul) Bennett; and her mother, Anita Tandberg.
Jane has joined her father, Pastor John Tandberg, and her grandparents in Heaven.
