James D. Warren

James Donald Warren, 87, passed at his home in Eau Claire, WI on Oct. 22, 2025. 

James was born in Dunn County on Feb. 23, 1938, to Charles Donald Warren and Dorothy (Cotts) Warren. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1956. He went on to work for the Eau Claire School District in the Buildings and Grounds department for 29 years.

He was a beloved regular at Randy’s Family Restaurant in Eau Claire for over two decades, always ordering the same meal: The Hungry Man. He had his own special syrup bottle and would even help the staff clean up at closing time. 

James was an avid traveler who always took the train — even to Canada and Mexico. He also enjoyed woodworking, history, cooking, watching westerns, and listening to old country music. 

He is survived by his children, Karla (Sam) Sessions, Corey Warren, and Craig (Jennifer) Warren; and by Christine (Tom) Seelow and Barbara (Julie Schaefer) Langland, who were like daughters to him; grandchildren, Amanda Fortney, Austin Warren, Anika Warren, Alexandra Warren, Lucas (Nevaeh) Warren, Katelyn Seelow, and Nicole Seelow; great-grandchildren Jasmine and Trevor Fortney; sister, Joanne Soderholm; and former wife, Irene (Bennett) Hill, the mother of his children. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Warren; sister, Judy Meixner; and longtime partner Diane Langland.
