Jack Robert Stanfield, a 53-year resident of Colorado Springs and more recently of Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls, passed away on February 1, 2025.
Jack was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 1, 1936, to Samuel and Catherine (Rodgers) Stanfield. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife of 66 years Barbara (Fisher); son Mark; brothers Harry, Samuel and William; and sister Evelyn Triantos. He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Burnett (Greg) and Mary Stanfield, daughter in-law Julianne Merriam, as well as four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Jack graduated from the University of Kansas City. He worked a total of 40 years in the aerospace industry for Bendix Corporation, System Development Corporation, Ford Aerospace, Grumman, Loral, and retired from Lockheed Martin. He began working on software development projects in 1960. He worked on the Air Defense and Automated Communication segment and Satellite Tracking Systems, forerunners of the Space Defense System at NORAD. He also worked on missile defense and a study for satellite defense (SDI). He held technical positions and various management positions, including project manager, chief engineer, technical director and systems director.
After retirement, Jack wrote poetry and authored several books on aspects of American history and Catholicism. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception. Interment will take place at St Mary’s Cathedral Columbarium in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
