It is with deep sorrow and immense love that we announce the passing of our sassy, spirited, and one-of-a-kind Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma and Great-Great-Grandma, Hildagarde Enger, who left us on 12/2/2024 at the age of 99. Born 06/13/1925 to Cora and Ralph Henry the youngest of ten, her legacy is one of strength, humor, and an unshakeable love for her family, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Hilda was a woman who lived life on her terms. With a fierce and fiery personality, she didn’t shy away from speaking her mind, always ready with a sharp remark and a contagious laugh. She loved playing cards, and no family gathering was complete without a competitive round of Polish poker or Hell. Whether she won or lost, she brought her special brand of sass and joy, keeping everyone on their toes and always smiling.

Her love of adventure was unmatched. She spent many cherished years traveling and camping with family, where she was at home by the campfire telling stories, fishing in quiet streams, or simply enjoying the great outdoors. She had a way of making every trip feel like an unforgettable adventure.

Over the years, Hilda had three husbands, each a chapter in her life. She loved deeply, learned from every experience, and continued to move forward with grace and humor. Each of her marriages brought its memories, and her family always remained the center of her world.

Hilda is survived by her loving family, including her Daughters Corita Schaller (Nelson) and Shirley Longfellow. Her granddaughter and Family are Teresa Ryan (Jeff), with children Jennifer(Kyle), Christina, Tyler, Katarina, Jared, Natasha, and Hunter. Her grandson and Family are Terry Knutson (Karyn), with children Kaleigh(Garret), Bryce, and Ashlyn. Her grandson and Family are Travis Knutson (Rebecca), with children AJ(Ashley), Alex, and Abri. Seven great-great-grandchildren and countless friends were blessed to have known her.

Hilda is preceded in death by husbands Joseph Tistamer, Walter Hanson and Florin Enger, son Jerry Tistamer, son-in-law Jimmy Longfellow, and great-granddaughter Melissa Hatfield.

Funeral service will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at Peace Lutheran Church, 501 E. Fillmore Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Pastor Ethan Luhman officiating.  Visitation will take place at the church on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 from 5 - 7 pm.  Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 am until the time of service.  Committal service will take place later that afternoon at 3 pm in the Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, W15084 WI-121, Hixton, WI 54635.
