Henry Meier Obituary

Henry F. Meier, 70, of Eau Claire, passed away unexpectedly at home on December 18, 2025.

Henry was born on March 15, 1955 in Gilmanton, Wisconsin to William and Violet (Clark) Meier. He graduated from Durand High School with the class of 1973. While working at an implement factory as a young man, he met Lynette Tulip, who would become the love of his life. The two were married at the Price County Courthouse on January 30, 1978. They went on to build a life centered on family, hard work, and simple joys. From their union came two children, Matthew and Melissa. Lynette preceded him in death in the year 1999. It was a loss that shaped his life, as he carried her memory with him.

He worked for many years at Meyer’s Utility Structures, retiring in 2009. Henry especially cherished deer and turkey hunting with his son, Matt. He also loved traveling out west where the mountains captured his heart. In his later years, he found joy in quieter routines—challenging himself with Sudoku puzzles, taking long morning walks around town, and embracing city life as he got older. He enjoyed people-watching at Phoenix Park, which was conveniently located across from his balcony. Henry was also a regular at Randy’s Family Restaurant for many years, where he enjoyed good food and even better company. Above all, he was a proud grandfather to his three beautiful grandchildren.

Henry is preceded in death by his parents, William and Violet Meier; his wife, Lynette Meier; brothers Robert Meier, David Meier and William Meier and sister Irene McNish.

He is survived by his children, Melissa (Garen) Pletzer of Cross Plains, and Matt Meier of Durand; his grandchildren, Addison Pletzer, Stella Pletzer and Graden Pletzer; brothers Marvin Meier and Allen Meier; and sisters Alice Furtney, and Roberta Kleckner; along with many other family and friends.

Per his wishes, cremation will take place, and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
