Dorothy Buchholz

Dorothy M. Buchholz, 105, of Eau Claire, passed away at the Neighbors of Dunn County where she resided since 2020 on May 29, 2023.

Dorothy was born in Chippewa County on August 2, 1917 to Eldora (Woodard) and Elish Dodge, the seventh of eight children. She was raised and went to school in Stanley. In 1934 she was united in marriage to Victor Buchholz in Fall Creek.

After living in several places in Eau Claire County the family moved to Elk Lake. Dorothy was active in several women’s groups including the Elk Lake Garden Club, Homemakers and a 500 Card Club. Dorothy was an active member of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed volunteering at the Chippewa Valley Museum.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Victor in 1998; her mother, Eldora, in 1919; her father Elish, in 1956; five brothers and two sisters.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Cliff of Mondovi, Gary (Linda) of Elk Lake, and Debbie (Bill) Hughes of Menomonie; grandchildren, Kim Buchholz, Rory Buchholz, Lisa Buchholz, Willy Hughes and Amy La Mirande as well as 8 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

The memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St., Eau Claire. A visitation will be on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Springbrook Cemetery in Elk Mound, WI.
