Don was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was called home to the Lord on August 26, 2024, under hospice care and in the comfort of his home with his wife by his side.
Don was born April 16, 1943 to John and Iva Wolf in Antigo, Wisconsin. He grew up on the family farm in Lily, Wisconsin. He graduated from Antigo High School in 1962 later joining the Army National Guard of Wisconsin in 1964 and was Honorably Discharged as a Specialist Fifth Class in April,1970.
Don was a Fire Loss Prevention Engineer at Insurance Services Office for 12 years. In 1977 he went out on his own and invented a restaurant ventilation hood. His company was Chef’s Mate/National Fire Protection Systems. He also owned the Wood Chuck Heating Store selling and installing wood burning furnaces. In 1980 he continued working for himself as Wolf Builders and Handyman Service as a general contractor of all phases of construction, mainly commercial. He also provided small handyman services to seniors and those in need. In 1988 he worked as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer at Armor Foods. In 1992 Don went back to school and graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science; Computer Information Systems- Programmer/Analyst. He later owned and operated Tight Rack Billiard Supply and Car Nuts: Pre-1990 Auto Parts and repair.
Don had many hobbies including playing bridge, camping, gardening, biking, hunting, fishing, sailing, golfing, remote control airplanes, bowling, dancing, and woodcarving. He loved playing guitar and singing with his friends. Of course he loved football - Go Packers! He worked magic with old cars, bringing them back to life.
Don was many things to many people. He has been described as sensitive, a dreamer, fun loving, witty, curious, creative, mischievous, adventurous and tenacious.
Don was always there to help. He volunteered for the Parent-Teacher Organization, Softball Coach, DNR Hunter’s Safety Instructor, Cub Scout Den Leader, was in charge of Bundy Hall Church Camp buildings and grounds. He was an active member of Christ Church Cathedral, serving on the Vestry, teaching 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School and helping out where needed.
Don married the love of his life Judith Prokop and together they enjoyed 47 years of marriage. They raised Don’s two sons from a previous marriage as well as a son of their own.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son John Wolf, brother William Wolf, sister Mary Jane Boraca, sister-in-law Janise Skow, father and mother-in-law Clarence and Esther Prokop, great-niece Abby Boraca, nephews William, Mark, and Eric Wolf and many special friends.
Left to mourn Don’s passing is his wife Judith Wolf, Brother Ron (Donna) Wolf, Sons Jeffrey (Heather) Wolf and Andrew Wolf and his Grandsons Spencer, Carter and Hayden Wolf. In addition, many nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of life will be held at Hulke Funeral Home 3209 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, WI on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. A short service will follow at the funeral home.
Per Don’s request, donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral in Eau Claire.
