Dennis “Denny” Walter Roach, age 69, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 30.
Denny was born January 18, 1957, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to Thomas and Nadine Roach. He grew up in Altoona and graduated from Altoona High School in 1975. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1977 to 1981 aboard the USS Shreveport. He later earned an Associate’s degree in Fluid Power Technology, graduating with honors in 1992.
He was married to DeeAnne Peterson, with whom he was a proud father to Nicholas and Heather and grandfather to Michael, Emma, Ryan, and Elliot.
Denny found happiness in simple pleasures, including sports, cooking, fishing, and watching old westerns. He was known for his genuine kindness, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and his generous spirit.
He is survived by his former wife, DeeAnne Peterson; his children, Nick (Liz) Roach and Heather Roach; grandchildren, Michael, Emma, Ryan, and Elliot; and by his siblings: Tim (Sandy) Roach, Tom (Gail) Roach, Greg (Kathy) Roach, Jane (Adolph) Pichler, Theresa Roach, Mary (Jerry) Nelson, and Katie (Linder) Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his nephews, Tommy Roach and Kevin Roach; and his niece, Lori Schreffler.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Denny over the years, especially the doctors and nurses at the Minneapolis VA Hospital, whose care and compassion meant so much.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 19th from 4:00 to 8:00 at the VFW Post 305, 1300 Starr Avenue, Eau Claire, WI. A private Christian burial at Calvary Cemetery, with military honors, will be scheduled at a later date, with details to be shared with family and friends.
