“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8).
That verse describes what has happened to Dennis Earl Pond. Born on this earth November 2nd, 1948, to Everett Pond and Bettie (Hamstreet) Pond. Born into his heavenly home January 5th, 2026.
Dennis had a deep and abiding love for youth ministry and for people in need, believing that everyone deserved to be seen, valued, and supported.
He faithfully served as a lead pastor and youth pastor at many churches during his time. His heart for service extended beyond the church walls, as he was always ready to offer help to those facing hardship, whether through quiet acts of kindness, generous giving, or simply showing up when someone needed him most.
His career at student transit offered him a second family where he poured his love into his coworkers and students every day.
When he wasn’t helping others, he enjoyed spending time with his wife Jan, whether it was taking her on rides with his motorcycle or singing songs. He loved to tell stories and was constantly making jokes with everyone he was around.
He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Bettie Pond, brother David Pond, and grandson Connor Pond.
He is survived by his wife Jan Pond, son Joshua (Tammi) Pond, granddaughters Olivia and Madison Pond, Sister Shirlee (LaRoy) Lucken, brother Daniel (Linda) Pond, sister-in-law Gail Pond, and many nieces/nephews, friends, and foster kids.
Well done good and faithful servant, you have finished the race.
