Dawn M. Grimm

Dawn Marie Grimm, 63, formerly of Black River Falls, passed away unexpectedly at home on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

She was born on June 4, 1962 to Victor and Dolores (Kieliszewski) Grimm in Wisconsin Rapids. She attended Lincoln High School there, and graduated with the class of 1981.

Throughout her life, Dawn dedicated many years as a housekeeper and maintenance worker, a role that reflected her strong work ethic and caring nature. She found joy in a quiet afternoon spent working on diamond painting, coloring, or other home project. Outside, Dawn tended to a garden, and would occasionally cast a fishing line on a sunny afternoon. One of her favorite hobbies was traveling whenever she could.

In August of 2024, Dawn became a grandmother— a role she proudly embraced. That November, she moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, to be closer to her son and his family, a decision rooted in her devotion to those she loved. After relocating, she retired and filled her days with projects around her home. Her faith remained an important part of her life through regular church attendance.

Dawn was a devoted Milwaukee Brewers fan, rarely missing the chance to cheer them on. Above all else, she treasured her role as “Grandma,” lovingly spoiling her only granddaughter, MyLee.

Her life was one of quiet strength, deep love, and simple joys. She will be remembered for the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her.

Dawn is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Dolores Grimm; and her brother, Dennis Grimm.

She is survived by her son, Brandon (Leila) Rakestraw; her granddaughter, MyLee Rakestraw; and her siblings, Deb Fessler, and Dale Grimm.

Per Dawn’s wishes, a cremation will take place, and a private family service will be held.
