David Walton Meyer

November 4, 1932 - May 26, 2023

Born to Eleanor Augusta Shaw Meyer and Walton Gustave Meyer, Omaha Nebraska Doulas county. Brought home to his childhood home on Arcadia Street, near Fort Lewis, to be the younger brother to sister Marcia.

Graduated with a business degree in 1955 from the University of Nebraska.

He also served in the Air Force in Koreashortly after marring JeanEllen Christoff.

Prior to the move to Wisconsin my mother JeanEllen passed away in 1972 due to Breast Cancer. So my father and I then transferred to Wisconsin on our own. There with, my full blessing, he married BettyJo Quiesnberry in 1974 who was his devoted spouse until her passing in 2021. 

The business degree supported his lifelong career in the Insurance Industry which resulted in moving every 18 months to start up a new office. Nebraska, Ill, MD, NJ, Wisc. Once the top executive job got to be too stressful (as in everyone at that level was falling over dead) he resigned and started up a Meyer’s Hardware in Waupaca Wisc with my step mother Betty by his side. Former employees still send them Christmas cards.

After the business struggled he moved to Washington State and returned to the Insurance business. 

Good Karma put him right next door to the Elster Family. NancyEllen married Mark Elster in 1983 and have two sons, Christoff (1985) wife Jocelyn, and Gavin  (1988).

My dad loved to tell stories and share jokes. He never complained, had a warm smile and devilish wink. He peacefully died one day after a diagnosis lung cancer.
