David Schultz

David A. Schultz, 78, of Eau Claire, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025 at his home, under the care of Mayo Clinic Hospice.

David was born on November 30, 1946 in Eau Claire to Arthur and Geraldine (Ludwig) Schultz. He is a proud graduate of Regis High School, class of 1964. Immediately following high school, Dave enlisted in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and went to Vietnam as soon as he turned 18. Upon his return from Vietnam, he became a Marksman Instructor at Camp Pendleton and was honorably discharged in 1967. He married Sherry Stokes on September 16, 1967. Sherry survives.

He is further survived by his children, Brian (Christine) of Eau Claire, Chris (Dawn) of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Dakota, Olivia, Caleb and Aiden; siblings, Joey Newman of Eau Claire, Nancy Schultz of Eau Claire, Connie (Pete) Cherniawski of MI, Don Schultz of Menomonie and Jim Schultz of TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents.

Dave worked for Eau Claire County Sheriffs Department for nearly 33 years, retiring in 2003. While working for the Sheriffs Department he held several positions starting with patrol, juvenile officer, detective and ended his career as Under Sheriff. 

He owned racing greyhounds and enjoyed traveling to the different racetracks to race them. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing and going on cruises. Dave loved classic cars and owned and raced a few throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday March 14, 2025 at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Pastor Joel Naumann will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM.

Memorial donations in honor of Dave may be given to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
