Cord passed away peacefully at his home on the lake with his family beside him on August 5, 2024, ending his battle with Alzheimer’s
Cord was born in Madison MN on January 22nd to Roy and Mary Roise Lindall. Cord was baptized and confirmed at Madison Lutheran Church. He spent his childhood in Madison MN, graduated from Madison High School in 1957, and went to college at St. Olaf College in Northfield MN. He transferred to the University of MN, where he finished his degree in Civil Engineering.
After graduating he moved to start his career at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Eau Claire. He was a civil engineer for the State of WI and retired from the State of WI DOT in 1997. He went on to do consulting work with Owen Aryes Company post-retirement.
He married Janice (Jan) Clark on August 18th, 1962 in Madison MN. They were married for 61 years and built their life in Eau Claire and had two children. They spent their time in retirement living in the lake home their son designed for them on Chain Lake, New Auburn WI. In retirement, they also enjoyed many years in Salida, CO, South Padre Island TX, and Gold Canyon AZ. They made many friends and enjoyed spending their time skiing and enjoying the warm weather. Throughout the years they had a travel group that took them to many international destinations and created lifelong friendships and memories.
Cord is survived by his daughter Kay Hayden, grandson Carter, and granddaughter Nicole. His Son Sott Lindall, daughter-in-law Betsy Lindall, granddaughter Samantha, and grandsons Jacob, Zachary, and Benjamin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins
Cord was preceded in death by his father Roy Lindall, mother Mary, stepmother Helen; Sisters LaVonne and Twyla, and daughter Karen Mary. Father and Mother-in-law Otis and Marie Clark.
Cord thoroughly enjoyed his family and always looked for ways to spend time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid follower of their sporting events, school programs, and time spent together water and snow skiing. He could be found playing games and cards with friends and family and was known to start singing around any event, especially around campfires. He loved to share an endless amount of Ole and Lena jokes in a Norwegian accent and was always willing to give a Norwegian toast to friends and family. He shared his skills of woodworking by both teaching and creating practical woodworking pieces including dining room tables, benches, and shelves.
A visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church 1314 E Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 11-12 p.m. (noon) and services will be held the same day at the church at 12 p.m. (noon). Pastor Tom Westcott will officiate the service. A private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date.
