Claire Grambo Obituary

Claire L. Grambo, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Heritage Court Memory Care, surrounded by love and under the care of Heritage Court and St. Croix Hospice.

Born on November 4, 1936, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Claire was the daughter of Eugene and Florence (Allie) Courtois. She was first married to Byron Selbrede, a union that brought significant milestones and blessings to her life before ending in divorce. Later, Claire found lasting love and companionship with Eldon Grambo, whom she married on June 19, 1976. Together, they shared many joyful years and created cherished memories.

Claire is survived by her sons, Bob (Catherine) Selbrede of Oak Ridge, TN and Dave Selbrede of Alabaster, AL; her daughters, Cathy (Rob) Mix of St Paul, MN and Sarah (Adam) Duquaine of Eau Claire, WI; her grandchildren, Rebekah, Becky, Matthew, Robert, Luke, Lily, Sophia, Addison, and Ben; and her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Eldon; her brothers, Eugene, Edward, and Louis Courtois; and her grandson, Steven Mix.

A devoted member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Claire lived her faith through her actions and connections with others. She participated in Bible studies, treasured the fellowship of her church family, and found joy in sharing meals, laughter, and outings. In her leisure time, Claire enjoyed playing bingo, creating beautiful embroidery, and crafting with plastic canvas. She had a soft spot for monster movies and Clint Eastwood films, which always brought a smile to her face. Claire’s kind heart, strong faith, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 3307 State Street, Eau Claire. A funeral service will start at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Hollmann officiating. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be at St. Katherine Cemetery in Menomonie after the luncheon.
