Charles “Charlie” Iver Elroy Haltner
Born on November 10, 1959 (Perham, MN)
Departed on July 29, 2024
Dear Charlie (the Comet), beloved brother, uncle, son of the late Robert and Ila (née Thompson) Haltner, brother of the late Martin Haltner, and uncle to the late nephew Robert Wallace,
When you left us, surrounded by the watchful eyes of the Regions Hospital (St. Paul, MN) “Comfort Care Team” and family, our hearts collapsed into great sorrow. Throughout thatday, a spontaneous flurry of texting with an outpouring of love-filled memories and stories from your sisters, brother, nieces and nephews registered from around the world and filled our hearts with peace and, ultimately, delivered a compass for us to navigate our loss.
Without hesitation, we all turned our ears and hearts to the consoling lyrics of Vince Gill’s most beautiful composition, thatwill resonate in our hearts as well as in the many hearts of people who knew and cared for you on your earthly journey.
I know your life on earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain
So go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
Wish I could see the angels’ faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing
So go rest high on that mountain
Son, your work on earth is done
Go to heaven a-shoutin'
Love for the Father and the Son
Now, set forth, dear Charlie, to that high mountain, and rest in peace. You will be perfect and loved, just as you were with your family.
