Bozena J. Zemla

Bozena J. Zemla, age 67 passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Saturday, December 28, 2024 in her Eau Claire home. She was surrounded by the presence and love of her family in a home she lovingly built. 

Bożena was truly a lioness of a woman whose fierce strength and passion shone brightly through her spirit. She was larger than life, never afraid to love fiercely, take chances, and to quite literally take the the bull by the horns. 

She had a deep passion for cooking, finding joy in preparing meals for herself and her loved ones. She also cherished the thrill of travel, embracing the opportunity to explore new places and immerse herself in unique experiences. Shopping was another of her great joys, as she enjoyed choosing thoughtful gifts for her loved ones, reflecting her generosity and care for those around her.

Her family hopes her memory brings comfort to all who knew her, and they know she will continue to live on in our hearts. 

Bożena was preceded in death by her father, Andrzej Gontarz, her mother, Stanisława (Gontarz) Lewińska, her brother, Andrzej Gontarz, and her sister, Stanisława (Gontarz) Lipna. Bożena is survived by her children, Mateusz (Melissa) Zemla, Asia (Justin) Zemla-Johnson, and Alex (Keri) Zemla. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sayde, Devin, Kajetan and Aniela.

If you plan on attending the funeral, please add a pop of color to your wardrobe. Bożena's favorite color was red but any bright color will do.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1712 Highland Avenue, Eau Claire, WI 54701.  Visitation will take place that day at the church from 9 am until the time of service.
