Beverly "Bev" Mai Obituary

Beverly "Bev" Frances (Boyle) Mai passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. Bev was born at Sacred Heart Hospital on October 6, 1925 to Paul and lla (Roesler) Boyle. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School in 1943. In her early years, Bev worked in the offices of National Pressure Cooker and Linderman Box Company.

Bev met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Mai, at Fournier's Ballroom in Eau Claire; they were married on June 6, 1946 and were married 41 years prior to his death in 1988. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church. Bev was a very kind and caring woman.

She was a dedicated mom and grandmother who loved her family and valued family get togethers. She was a very gifted and competitive card player, her favorites being Bridge, 500, Golf and Sweep, and treasured sharing that with her children and grandchildren. She also loved spending time with her dear sister Barb. Bev led a life filled with travel, love, laughter and family and enjoyed sharing her experiences and wisdom with others. She was a strong and determined woman even through her later years, traveling 3500 miles with her daughter and son-in-law at 97 years old to visit her grandchildren in Arizona. Her wish and legacy for her family was that they be true to themselves, live their dreams, be happy and to always treat everyone a little kinder than necessary. Her love and light will continue to live on in all of us.

Bev is survived by her four children; Judy Dirks, Mike (Barb) Mai, Mary (Steve) Fox and Jim (Lori) Mai; Grandchildren; Jeff (Diana) Payne, Kyle (Jess Joyce) Payne, Jessica (Shaun) Kaiser, Joseph Mai, Amber Fox, Alyssa (John Hanson) Fox, Nicole (Russ) Luniak and Erica (Kyle Jasmer) Mai;

Great grandchildren; Jaren, Maddy, Logan, Lydia, Kenisha, Dextyn, Brynlee, Parker, Gabriel, Kegan, Berkley, Ella, Kylie and Korbyn; her sister Barbara Malnory and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by the many who considered her their mom and grandma as well. She always made everyone feel special and loved.

Bev was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents Paul and lla Boyle, her in-laws Otto and Emma Mai, son-in-law Jon Dirks, her little angel granddaughter Sarah Marie Mai, brother-in-law Robert Malnory and her special aunt Anna Spanel.
