Bertha Grace LeGore, 93, of Eau Claire, WI passed away on June 11, 2024. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and prayer warrior who will be greatly missed.
Bertha was born April 22, 1931, in Barnes County, North Dakota, to George E. Carman and Mary C. (Swea) Carman. Bertha spent her youth in Valley City before moving with her family to Bismarck, graduating from Bismarck High School in 1949. Following high school, Bertha continued her education at Bismarck Junior College. While employed by the North Dakota State Water Commission within the State Capitol Building, she met her future husband, Robert LeGore. On November 11, 1953, she and Robert were married in Salt Lake City, Utah, where Bertha was working for Mollerup Transportation Company. Following their marriage, Bertha and Robert moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where she resided until her death.
Bertha enjoyed being a mom and homemaker. She was an avid seamstress, making many outfits for her daughters. She enjoyed cooking and there was never a shortage of new chicken recipes to be tried. She loved growing and tending to her vegetable, flower and perennial gardens, even maintaining an enormous compost bin in the city before it was in fashion. In addition, she enjoyed reading and birdwatching and spent many hours devoted to these activities. Family was very important to Bertha, and she enjoyed her travels to reconnect with her siblings, nieces and nephews. Bertha served as a Sunday School teacher and Scout leader for many years. She maintained a strong Christian faith throughout her lifetime and was a loving prayer warrior for family and friends. For her many thoughtful acts of kindness and love she will be greatly missed.
