Avis L. LaRock

Avis  Lanor (Hendrickson) LaRock died on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Avis was born on a family farm south of Eau Claire on October 10,1922 to Millie Torkelson Hendrickson and Hilbert Hendrickson.   Avis married John LaRock in 1939 when she was 17 years old.  They had three children, Joanne (Dimmers), Greg LaRock and Carolyn (Duffenbach). 

She lived her meaningful life in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.  She contributed to the happiness of others.  She laughed easily, her arms were always open for a hug and she made us her famous cookies!  She always loved to do a project…and I mean construction projects!   Pets loved her and fish feared her.

Avis had many talents.  She would knit blankets and sweaters for family and friends.  She was an excellent seamstress.  She could make any pattern her own when alterations were necessary.  She would make beautiful tablecloths, clothing and toys for the kids and she made the BEST Lefse too!

Avis left us all with beautiful memories and though she died at nearly 103, she left us too soon.  She was preceded in death by her parents Millie and Hilbert Hendrickson, siblings Edith Beighly, Clinton Hendrickson and Harold Hendrickson; husband John Frederick LaRock, daughter Joanne (LaRock) Dimmers and granddaughter Sarah (Mittlestadt) Gordon.  She is survived by two of her children, Greg (Jinny) LaRock and Carolyn (Denny) Duffenbach and grandchildren: Tony (Barb) Dimmers, Pam (Boyd) Perttu, Jared LaRock, Jesse LaRock, Todd (Michelle) Johnson, Scott Johnson, Matt (Rachel) Duffenbach and Shaun Duffenbach (Fiancé) Katie Evans.   She was also blessed with great grandchildren Travis, Luke, Emily, Anders, Ethan, Brady and Jessica Honadel and  great , great grandchildren  Elliott, Jalen, Jaxon and June and so many others that loved her like a grandma.

Visitation will take place at Hulke Family Funeral Home on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 10-11 am. Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am. Chaplain Neil Bennett will officiate. Burial will take place immediately following the funeral in the Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington.

The family encourages to leave a brief paragraph condolence, memory, or tribute to Avis by 10/8/2025 at noon. They plan to make tribute with all the ones that are submitted by that time.
