Donald (Don) R Garton Sr., age 92 of Eau Claire, Wisconsin died peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1925, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the son of Rose and Oscar LeRoy Garton.

Don honorably served in the US Marine Corps during World War II, serving in the South Pacific as an artilleryman in the 1st Marine Division.  He was married to Delores Schunk (later divorced) and the father of 4 children.  He worked for Gamble Robinson as an Operations Manager in Eau Claire for over 30 years. In June of 1985, Don married Emily Zoglmann in Las Vegas NV. Don and Emily lived in Eau Claire until moving to Bella Vista, Arkansas to enjoy their passion for golf and the milder winters. Don “worked” part-time in Bella Vista at the local golf course cutting grass and other miscellaneous things until he was 88. He loved being outdoors, boating, riding his motorcycle, traveling, detailing his cars, and just being busy.  Don and Emily moved back to Eau Claire in 2014 to be closer to family. He was a member of Chapel Heights United Methodist Church.

Don will be dearly missed by his wife of 32 years, (Emily);  his children, Donald Jr. (Carol) of Chippewa Falls, WI/St George, Utah, Rhonda (Ric) Calkins of Lindenhurst IL, Brian (Rosella) of Albuquerque New Mexico;  step-children, Terri Egner of Del Rio TN, Julie (Dave) Feivor of Gillett, WI, Jayne (Greg) Hayden of Elk Mound, WI, Jill (John) Walterman of Elk Mound, WI and Patti (Mick) McLaughlin of Eau Claire, WI. Don is further survived by 3 sisters, Etta Bartholomew, Beverly Lahner, Beth Bahr and brother-in-law, Avery Smith and his beloved dog, Bella!

Don will be also be missed by his grandchildren, Scott Belger, Grays Lake, IL; Matthew Garton , Seattle, WA; Tony(Nicole) Feivor, Shawano, WI; Brianna (Leo) Rodriguez, Mequon WI; Chase (Andrea) Feivor, Eagan MN, Gabriel (Amanda) Hayden, Heidi (Cal) Davis,  Shayne McLaughlin, Tye McLaughlin all of Eau Claire;  Second Lieutenant USMC, Aarin McLaughlin  of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Don also has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren and other relatives who will also miss him.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Diane Garton, brothers, LeRoy Garton and sisters, Bonnie Smith and Rosemary Kruger and granddaughter, Kim Davis.

**In lieu of flowers and in Don’s memory, the family requests memorials made to Chapel Heights United Methodist Church - Food Pantry, 300 East Hamilton, Eau Claire, the Veterans of Foreign War, 1300 Starr Ave, Eau Claire, WI or the American Legion, 634 Water St. Eau Claire, WI. Thank You.

A memorial service will take place at 12 pm (noon) on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Chapel Heights United Methodist Church, 300 East Hamilton Avenue, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pastor Cheri Miskimen will officiate. A memorial visitation will take place at 10 am on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at the church until the time of the services. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in the Springbrook Cemetery in Elk Mound. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Post #53.

    I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. I sure will miss seeing him and Bella on our morning walks. Don will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
