Daniel F. Kahl, age 91 of Eau Claire passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. 

Dan was born on February 16, 1925 in Prairie Farm, Wisconsin to Chester and Elma (Gumbert) Kahl.

He played football, basketball and softball in his younger years. He was also a boxer.

Dan was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the World War II Era, and was honorably discharged in 1946. After his discharge he was involved in a career as an electrician for the remaining of his working years. Dan was a competitive player at the board game “Upwards” and a card game called “Rook”.

Dan was married to Rachel Christopherson. They had two children together, Marie (Jerry) Adams and Rita Buchanan. After Rachel passed, Dan then married Gale (Barby) Stocks.

Dan is survived by his wife, Gale, her son, Clay Stocks and daughter, Ann Gobler, his daughters, Marie (Jerry) Adams, Rita Buchanan, his sisters, Phyllis Nereson, Margel Little, and Karen Stertz, and He is also survived by ten Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Rachel, his sister Orpha Delaney, and a Grandson.

Gale and the rest of the family would like to thank the entire staff at Oakwood Villa in Altoona and the Mayo Staff and Hospice Team for the excellent care they provided to Daniel. Gale would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to her sister, Faye Rose and her Sister in Law, Margel Little for their help and love during this difficult time.

Visitation will take place at Fuller Speckien Hulke Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 from 5 - 7 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 11 am on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Eau Claire Wesleyan Church, 2405 Keith Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with visitation at the church Wednesday morning an hour prior to the service. Pastor Dan Stertz will officiate the funeral. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Bloomer City Cemetery in Bloomer, Wisconsin.

    I just wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you all. I remember uncle Dan so well. I always looked forward to visiting the house in Bloomer and playing softball with him at the Christopherson family reunion. He was always so nice to me.

    He has passed to a happier life and for that we are thankful. We are in Peru at the time or we certainly would have been there to pay our respects!
