Karen Mae Spickler, 73, of Eau Claire, passed away surrounded by her family on October 26th, 2011 following her long struggle with Alzheimer's disease at Harbor House Memory Care, just after celebrating her 55th wedding anniversary.
She was born on April 23, 1938 to Alice and Charles "Bud" Olson in Eau Claire. She graduated from Eau Claire High School and married the love of her life, Victor E. Spickler.

Karen was the most kind, loving, and caring person who always put others before herself. She spent her life with her loving husband and the two of them helped run a very successful business together and raised three daughters. Her favorite days were Sundays because she loved spending the day with her husband, Victor, grocery shopping, getting breakfast, and being with family. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking, especially at Christmas time. Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her grandchildren singing songs, playing, and making them laugh. She will be remembered by her great laugh, great advice, and for giving the best hugs. She touched everyone's hearts and will be greatly missed.  She is survived by her loving husband, Victor, of Eau Claire; three daughters, Julie O'Connor, Barbara (Al) Scholze, Vickey (William) Kleist, seven grandchildren; Nathan (Tori) Scholze, Joshua Scholze (Amanda Romero) Sarah Roberts (Joshua Brunner), Ryan (Lisa) Kleist, Melissa Kleist, Lindsey Kleist, Hannah Kleist, all of Eau Claire; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Jan (Gerald) Huse of Minong; and brother, Gary Olson.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father.
A special thanks goes out to the staff at Harbor House Memory Care for the warm and loving care they provided Karen while she lived with them. Another special thanks goes to the Hospice team at Mayo Clinic Health Systems for helping Karen to live her last days comfortably. A final special thanks goes to Dr. Jeffery Shepich for his dedication and support to Karen and her family throughout her Alzheimer's disease.
