Donald E. Stoner
Send Condolence

Don was born on February 21, 1936 in Hillsdale, Wyoming to Claude Stoner and Gatha (Palmer) as one of seven children and was raised on a wheat/dairy farm.  He graduated from the University of Wyoming at Laramie with a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture.

He met Joan while in the Wyoming Air National Guard.  After their marriage, in September 1966, they lived in Littleton, Colorado where Don was a loan officer with the First Continental National Bank.  He and Joan welcomed two daughters while in LIttleton, Dana and Leslie.

In 1973, they embarked upon his lifelong dream of owning a dairy farm and purchased Harry Fallen's farm in Arpin.  He enjoyed working with his John Deere machinery, planting and harvesting the crops but not so much the cattle.  During his forty-two years on the farm, Don was on the FHA Board of Directors and served as the Treasurer for First Presbyterian Church of Arpin.  While living on the farm, the family welcomed their third daughter, Becky.

Don was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the girls play in their school sports and cheering for the Brewers and Packers.  He enjoyed bowling and playing cards with neighbors Milton, Ronnie, Eddie and Oliver.  In 2015, Don and Joan moved to Eau Claire to spend more time with their grandchildren, Abby and Will.

Don is survived by his wife of 52 years; Joan, children; Dana Stoner of Eau Claire, WI, Leslie Stoner of Coon Rapids, MN, Rebecca (Westley) Bennett of Fall Creek, WI, grandchildren; William and Abigail Bennett of Fall Creek, WI, three sisters; Viva Reese, Norma (Joe) Alguin, Patsy (Tim) Hood and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ivan and Dick and sister Pearl; niece Joy Purcell and nephews Russell Stoner and David Milton.

Funeral service will take place at 12 pm on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 8156 Church Road, Arpin, WI 54410 with Pastor Rebecca Niese officiating.  Visitation will take place at the church on Wednesday from 11 am until the time of service.  Private family committal service will take place at a later date in the Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.
