On the evening of Friday, November 30th, Claudine V. Gotter, “Mom”, received the embrace of our Lord, and was carried to join in eternal rest with her husband of 50 years, Elroy E. Gotter.  Claudine passed away in comfort and peace, surrounded by love, in her Eau Claire home of 55 years.  “Honey”, her faithful “puppy” for almost 13 years, was lovingly curled up on her mom’s tummy, always her companion and little Guardian Angel.  Claudine’s 3 children; Gary, Roy, and Jane, were at mom’s side, holding her hands before, during, and after her final breath.  Also at Claudine’s side were granddaughter Ashley Nesbit, and great grandson Ryan Moyer, sharing their love and support for “gramma” and family.

Claudine Vern Ryskoski was born in Stevens Point, WI on March 24, 1928 to parents Vincent and Florence Ryskoski, along with twin brother Carl Ryskoski.  Older brother Harold, and younger brothers Norm, Don, and Bob Ryskoski, were also born to parents Vincent and Florence, into a Catholic family of 1 girl and 4 boys.  Claudine grew up in Stevens Point, attended schools there, and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in Stevens Point.  Her mother Florence passed away at an early age, and Claudine’s life as a daughter and sister and student, immediately became that of a mother to her younger brothers as well.  Claudine met her life-time love and future husband, Elroy E. Gotter, while he was attending college at UW-Stevens Point.  The 2 young people were similarly kind, caring, hard-working and they loved each other very much.  They were married on June 5, 1948.  Claudine and Elroy’s 3 children were born, between 1951 and 1956, as Elroy worked as a teacher in Wisconsin at Crandon, Rhinelander, and then in La Crosse.  Claudine began her life-long commitment to caring for her family and children, as a homemaker, when Jane was born in 1951 and Roy in 1953, in Crandon, WI.  As Elroy continued to work on his advanced degree, Gary was born in 1956, in Madison, WI.  After Elroy received his Master’s Degree from UW Madison, the Gotter family settled in Eau Claire, where he taught as a Professor of Mathematics at UW-Eau Claire for 33 years, until his retirement.  In 1963, Claudine and Elroy built a new home at 404 East Grant Avenue, in Eau Claire.  Elroy and Claudine needed to do much of the finish work in building the new house, for themselves.  It was a source of great happiness, pride, and love to them, and for their family.  After her husband Elroy passed away in their home in 1998, Claudine remained in their home for 20 more years, until she passed away. Her home had become her source of strength, following the loss of her loving husband.  For her, remaining in their home provided the continuous feelings of security, joy, happiness, purpose, and family, which she loved so much.

Claudine was a proud, loving, and meticulous homemaker.  She was kind, dedicated, and loving with her family, relatives, neighbors, and friends.  She was an active member of the Faculty Wives Association at UW-Eau Claire, for many years.  She served as a Poll Worker for Elections, for many years.  Claudine and Elroy were dedicated and active members of the Newman Community Catholic Parish, on Campus at UW-Eau Claire.  Both of them provided various services to the parish and for the pastors, for many years.  Claudine’s life-long love and joy was for her husband Elroy, her children, her grand-children, her brothers, her nieces and nephews, her pets, her home, her flowers, and Christmas time.  She enjoyed many years of summer camping at the lake, with family and friends.  She enjoyed many years of annual family reunions.

Claudine is survived by her 3 children; Gary Gotter of New Auburn with his fiancée Jayne Mincoff; Roy Gotter of Chippewa Falls; and Jane Gotter of Eau Claire.  She is also survived by a granddaughter; Ashley Nesbit with her husband Scott Nesbit and son Drake Nesbit; a granddaughter Sarah Skoug; and a granddaughter Jacquelyn Stanton; 5 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by 2 younger brothers; Norman Ryskoski and Robert Ryskoski.  Claudine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Elroy E. Gotter; her parents, Vincent and Florence Ryskoski; her stepmother, Olive Ryskoski-Hintz; her older brother Harold Ryskoski; her twin brother, Carl Ryskoski; a younger brother Donald Ryskoski; and her daughter-in law, Cynthia Gotter.

Claudine and her strength, love, and care, will be missed by all of her family and friends, and Honey too.

Funeral service will take place at 2 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Hulke Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Eau Claire with Father Dan Oudenhoven officiating.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Monday December 10, 2018 from 12 pm until the time of service.  Entombment will take place in the Chapel of the Resurrection Mausoleum at Calvary Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the funeral service.
