Karen Rae Thompson age 53 of Eau Claire passed away on November 8th, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire. 

Karen was born on December 30th, 1964 in Moorhead, MN to Duwaine Truman and Clara Marie (Faanes) Thompson.  When Karen was little, she was known as Tweety Bird. She loved attending her church, gardening, traveling and just driving on the open roads.  She especially loved her nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews. Karen worked at JC Penney's for over 20 years and also worked part-time at Hertz Rental Car. 

Karen is survived by her sister Karla (Tim) Weber of Augusta, KS; nieces Elissa (James) Hobbs and their children Aminah, Brianna, Avery, Kailee and Rylie of Topeka, KS; Ashley (Brandon) Jones and their children Bradyn, Kaden, Easton, and Logan of Augusta, KS; Kristi (Derek) McGovern and their children Cooper and Weston of Mulvane, KS; Aunt Betty, Aunt Joann and Uncle Maynard, Aunt Sandy and Uncle Bob, Aunt Deone, Aunt Inez and numerous cousins, friends and her JC Penny and Hertz families. Karen is preceded in death by her grandparents and her parents.

Visitation will take place at Hulke Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm.  Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 9 am until the time of service.  Funeral service will take place at 10 am on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2226 Eddy Ln, Eau Claire, WI 54703, with Pastor Mary Erickson officiating. Burial will take place at 2 pm on Monday afternoon in the New Hope Pine Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Ridgeland, WI.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Karen's name to Hope Lutheran Church.

    I had the joy of working with Karen at JCPenney for 2 years. I will always remember her for having a great work ethic and a great sense of humor. She will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to Karen’s family and her JCPenney family during this difficult time.
