Phyllis Ann Meyer, 80, of Eau Claire, WI peacefully slipped away the night of Saturday, October 20, 2018.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Stephanie Meyer, her sisters Loraine Meyer and Rosemary Call, and her brothers Donald and Gerald Meyer and nephew Tim Meyer. She never married but is survived by nieces and nephews, Patricia Jones, Nancy Delaria, Marcia Lopez, Jeffrey Call, Jill Bell, Dave Meyer, Kristi Erickson, Greg Meyer, Gary Meyer, Stephen Meyer and many great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Phyllis was born on September 5, 1938 in Eau Claire to Joseph and Stephanie (Hager) Meyer. She grew up in Eau Claire. She was 12 years old when she first started playing piano for church. Her first job was at Sacred Heart as a nurse aide. She took some college courses and technical college for daycare management and worked for several years with the 2 and 3 year olds at Color My World. She especially enjoyed having fun with the spirited preschool age kids at daycare, Sunday school and moppets music class. Most of her career was as a private organ, accordion and piano teacher. She also worked for various studios including Robinson music, Hammond organ and Morgan music. She had as many as 80 students a week with her largest recital at St Olaf's and traveled to Durand to teach music lessons at St Mary's. For many years Phyllis also played organ and piano for services at Harvestime church and was an activity director at Mondovi nursing home and St Joseph's in Chippewa. She enjoyed working with older special needs and elderly patients which was evident even the last month of her life at the Clearwater Care Center, where nurses say she went out of her way to encourage and support other residents. She also enjoyed the rare experience of traveling to China and as a snowbird with her parents to southern Texas for several years.

Her strong faith and the care of church family and many friends sustained her for the last 9 months of her long journey and brave fight for recovery during several health crisis moments. When dialysis was no longer able to improve quality of life she determined that it was time to go to her heavenly home. She was not afraid to ask for prayer and depended on those prayers which were answered in her last hours as she very peacefully slipped from this life to the next.

Funeral service will take place at  11 am on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at the One In Christ Church,  3439 Hester Street, Eau Claire, WI 54701 formerly Trinity Baptist Church.  Burial will take place in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire immediately following the funeral service.  Visitation will take place at the church Saturday morning from 9 am until the time of service.
