When I was a new grad nurse many years ago I was extremely fortunate to work with 'Ruthie' at Sacred Heart. She was my mentor, role model and my friend, not only a nurse of excellence, she was a person of excellence. We worked the 3-11:30 shift and everyone always knew it was going to be 'a good shift' if Ruthie was on. She was our charge nurse and everyone respected her immensely. She had the rare combination of deep compassion for her patients, wisdom beyond comprehension and a sense of fun that often surprised me. I just loved her and have thought of her so often since the roughly 30 years since I left Eau Claire. RIP dear friend.

I was so sorry to read of Ruth’s passing. I worked at Sacred Heart for 40 years, many of those years as a House Supervisor. Ruth was an excellent nurse, clearly loved the patients she cared for, and had that warm, wonderful smile for all of us. She was highly respected by the nursing leadership. I wish you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of your beloved Mrs. Zachau. May you draw comfort from the scriptural promise of the resurrection by Christ Jesus at John 5:28,29. During that time, no one will ever sorrow, because our Heavenly Father will wipe our tears and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:4)

I knew Ruth from working with her at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was an excellent nurse and good mentor for myself. I always enjoyed being with her and seeing that twinkle in her eyes. As my mother was from Boyd and my family IC parishioners we also had that connection. I was sorry to read of her passing. May you have good memories to share now and in the future.
