Eileen (Leinum) Eckert, age 95, of Eau Claire peacefully passed away February 10, 2018 at Care Partners Assisted Living-Birch Street under the care of HSHS St. Joseph Hospice, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Eau Claire on June 10, 1922, to Embert and Theresa (Koelsch) Leinum.

She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1941. She was a telephone operator at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company until she married the love of her life, Vincent Eckert. Together, they raised two children, Michael and Patricia.

Eileen enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, and being surrounded by her family. She was hardworking and always welcomed a new adventure or a shopping trip. She loved her dogs and her grand-dogs.

Eileen will be missed by her family, son: Michael (Mary) and daughter: Patricia, Grandsons: Brian (Celeste), Jeffrey (Laura), Matthew (Shannon), great grand-children: Emily, Chase, Nolan, Amelia, Adelinde, Jonathon and Jaelyn, as well as Ella Bean, sister-in-law: Catherine Milliren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Vincent, sister: Rosemary Howarth, twin sister; Kathleen Walker.

The family gives a special thanks to the loving staff at Care Partners- Birch Street who became part of her family. Also, special thanks to HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Immaculate Conception Church or HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospice.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 16, 2018, at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Parish, 1712 Highland Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Father Don Meuret officiating. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday, February 16, 2018, from 10 am until the time of service. Burial will immediately follow the service at Sacred Heart Cemetery.

    During my time as a CNA at care partners she was always so happy and loved playing bingo

    My deepest sympathy in the loss of your Mother. She was my room mate several years ago when we were both recovering at Dove Healthcare. It was a pleasure to become acquainted with you both. You gave her wonderful care. May God bless you and your family.
