Roger Willis Henning age 90, passed away peacefully on March 2nd 2024. Roger was born on November 13th, 1933 in Cleghorn, WI to Richard and Marie (Pape) Henning and lived his entire life on the family farm. He graduated from Lincoln Hills High School in Osseo WI in 1951 and attended UW Madison Agricultural Short Course.
Roger met Joanne Flynn on a blind date and they were married in September of 1956. Together they raised a family and managed a successful dairy farm in Cleghorn. In addition to family, Roger’s passion was his Holstein dairy herd. Milking cows and working the land of his family farm was his lifelong journey.
When St. Paul Church, across the road from the farm, closed in 1963, Roger and Joanne joined Zion Lutheran Church in Cleghorn where Roger served his Lord in multiple roles, Usher, Elder, Building Committee, Trustee, and Church Council Member.
While farming consumed most of his time, he truly enjoyed family get togethers as well as his Canada fishing trips in the spring with the guys and in the fall on the couple’s trip. Roger also found time to go deer hunting and ice fishing with family and friends.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Marie Henning and siblings Elaine Kensmoe, Norman Henning, Leona Hagedorn, and Leonard Henning. He is survived by his wife Joanne (Flynn) Henning; children Dick (Janet) Henning; Connie Henning; Renee (Joel) Hagen; Willie (Linda) Henning; 10 grandchildren, a great-grand son and sister-in-law Elmie (Norman) Henning.
