Rhonda K. (Trullinger) Wolk

Rhonda Kay (Trullinger) Wolk, age 59, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, February 18, 2024, surrounded by family, at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens. She was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) in 2019.  The disease took her body away from her, but she didn’t let it take her mind or her incredible spirit!

Rhonda was born on June 22, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska to Harold and Anna Trullinger. She was the treasured little sister that her older siblings loved. The family moved to Bay City, Michigan, where she received a gift of a baby sister! They later moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin in June of 1968.   Rhonda resided in the Eau Claire area for the rest of her life, until she relocated to The Classic at Hillcrest Greens in Altoona, Wisconsin.

Rhonda was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in 1979, she attended and graduated from Memorial High School in 1982. In her high school years, she was very active in the Youth Group at Trinity, where she made many lifelong friends.  She remained a member of Trinity throughout the rest of her life.  She had some very special high school friends that she remained close friends with until the very end.  Rhonda married David Wolk in 1987, and later divorced after 25 years.

Rhonda worked at Direct Oil and WAXX radio-where she was able to meet many of her favorite Country/Western performers.  For the next 25 years she worked for the City of Eau Claire in the Housing Division and Public Works Department.  She was involved in the Lake Street Stampers, where she enjoyed spending time with many special friends.  Everyone knew to expect handmade cards for special occasions. She enjoyed going to Country Jam and Fest with her best friends, where they shared many special times, including seeing Garth Brooks, Toby Keith, Reba McIntyre, and Joe Nichols.  She looked forward to these weekends, until this awful disease made them stop.

Everyone who knew Rhonda, knew that dogs were a very important part of her life, especially her black lab, Tanya.  Tanya was her trusty, faithful companion, and she was heartbroken when she lost her.  She loved all dogs, loved dog sitting, and later, loved having them visit her when she wasn’t able to visit them.  She had a special relationship with her favorite doggie visitor, Blue, and loved her Sunday visits and walks.

Rhonda is survived by her siblings; Sheryl Prochnow, Jim (Carol) Trullinger, Deanna (Bob) Fuller, all of Eau Claire, WI and Jeffrey Trullinger, of San Diego, CA, many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, many special friends and special dog friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Anna Trullinger.

The family would like to thank the staff at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens in The Garden Community, and Mayo Health and Hospice for their amazing care during Rhonda’s time there.

Funeral services for Rhonda will take place at 11 am on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd, Eau Claire, WI 54701 with Pastor Tom Westcott and Pastor Paul Markquart officiating. Visitation will take place at Hulke Family Funeral Home on Monday, February 26, 2024 from 4-7 pm and continue at the church the next day from 10 am until the time of the service.  Private family committal service will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire at a later date.
