Patricia "Pat" A. Johnson

PATRICIA ”PAT” ANN JOHNSON age 80, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, February 19, 2024 in Eau Claire, WI. Pat was born in Shawano, WI on November 16, 1943 to Frederick & Alice (Klemz) Waelchli. She was raised in Shawano where she graduated from Shawano High School in 1962.

Pat moved to Green Bay to nanny for a family for a short time. Pat then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay as a Nurse’s Aide. When Pat was not working, she spent her time dancing at the Shabon in Bonduel, WI where she met the love of her life. Her high school yearbook quote: “Whenever there’s a dance in town, Pat’s sure to be around.”

Pat was united in marriage to Gerald Allen Johnson on August 28, 1965, in Shawano. They moved to Eau Claire where Gerald got a job as a Mechanical Design Technology Instructor at Eau Claire Vocational and Adult School (now Chippewa Valley Technical College). Together they raised four children and had a wonderful life, spending summers camping around Wisconsin. 

She is survived by her spouse, Jerry, and four children: Lori (Jerry) Messany, Eric (Cheryl) Johnson, Jami (Jon) Riggs and Heidi (Todd) Gulseth. Seven grandchildren; Seth (Jordan), Izak (Kayleb), Evan, Tanner, Alex, Ana (Scott) and Gwen. Two great-grandchildren; Maverick and Freya.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond and Richard, sister Jackie, nephew Steve, and son-in-law Michael.

Pat would tell you that her greatest gifts in life were her loving husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All the neighborhood and school friends loved to spend time at the Johnson home. They would inevitably end up at the kitchen table with their arms around Pat and call her “mom”.

A memorial service will take place at 2 pm on Saturday March 2, 2024 at Hulke Family Funeral Home with Chaplain Richard Rogers officiating.  Memorial visitation will take place that day at the funeral home from 12:30 pm until the time of service.
