Leroy A. Hulke
Send Condolence

Leroy A. Hulke, age 87 of Eau Claire passed away early Monday morning, January 1, 2018, at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.

Psalm 25:6-7 Remember, O LORD, Your tender mercies and Your loving kindnesses, For they are from of old. Do not remember the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions; According to Your mercy remember me, For Your goodness' sake, O LORD.

LeRoy Albert Hulke was born on September 30, 1930 in Granite Falls, Minnesota. He was God's gift to Carl Hulke and his wife Blanche Deinhart and the fourth child in a family of five sons and two daughters. In remembrance of His mercy, the LORD on October 19,1930 brought LeRoy to faith in Jesus, forgiving all his sins in the gracious washing of Baptism. In His goodness the LORD blessed LeRoy with a Christian upbringing, with confirmation in the Christian faith on May 13, 1945, and with a good education.

Psalm 25:12-13 Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. He himself shall dwell in prosperity, And his descendants shall inherit the earth.

The LORD's special path of blessing for LeRoy included a Christian marriage and family. On June 27, 1954, LeRoy and Barbara Ann Kramer were married and were blessed with five children: Joleen, Lynette, Kevin, Cheryl, and Randall.

Psalm 25:4-5 Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I wait all the day.

The LORD taught LeRoy so that he could teach others. LeRoy taught at the following schools: Emanuel Lutheran in Fairfax, Minnesota; Zion Lutheran in Mission, South Dakota; public schools in Mission, South Dakota and in Madelia, Minnesota; and Messiah Lutheran in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Jesus taught LeRoy the importance of faithfulness to His Word, so early in his teaching career LeRoy left his former fellowship when it fell into error and became a member of the Church of the Lutheran Confession (CLC). He also served on the CLC Board of Education for 18 years.

In 1995 he retired from his call at Messiah after 21 years of teaching Jesus to the lambs of Christ's flock. He and his wife enjoyed retirement years in Eau Claire where they remained active in church and school and on the campus of Immanuel.

Psalm 25:17, 20 The troubles of my heart have enlarged; Bring me out of my distresses! Keep my soul, and deliver me; Let me not be ashamed, for I put my trust in You.

In recent years LeRoy had a variety of health issues. A few weeks ago, his body began to weaken rapidly. Yet the LORD kept his soul in perfect protection in Jesus. In the early hours of January 1, 2018, He delivered LeRoy out of all the troubles of this life and gave him the perfect life of heaven. His earthly pilgrimage was 87 years, 3 months, and 2 days. His body was cremated and buried at Prairie View Cemetery in Lake Hallie where it will await the Resurrection on the last Day.

Psalm 25:1-2a To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl, Ralph, Robert and his wife Agnes, brother-in-law Orville Drager, and grandson Micah Gurgel.
