Anne Q. Sather
Send Condolence

Anne Quella Sather died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 17th at age 85.

Anne was born to Joseph and Martha Quella on September 24, 1932, in Eau Claire Wisconsin.  She grew up on Water Street and was proud of her roots.

After graduating from Eau Claire High School in 1950, Anne attended the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and received her B.A. in education in 1954.  She began her teaching career in St. Paul, Minnesota where she taught first grade for 38 years. By any measure, she was the first-grade teacher any parent would hope to have for their child.

In 1958, Anne married the love of her life; Bill Sather.  Together they raised their family on St. Paul’s Eastside.  They spent wonderful summers on Lake Wissota in Chippewa Falls where they later retired.

She was involved in many activities, devoting her time and passion to a variety of causes with a gracious heart and beautiful smile.  She was proud to be a 50-year member of AAUW (St. Paul).  Her other interests included PEO, Lady Elks, and many wonderful bridge groups.  Through the years, she served on several committees at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Eau Claire.

Anne is survived by her husband Bill, their three children - Jane (Al) Mazorol, Willie (Diane) Sather and Sheldon (Anne) Sather; and grandchildren - Allen (Gina) Mazorol, Annie Mazorol, Billy Sather, Laura (Brad) Sather-Gunderson, Hannah Sather, Jackson Sather, Lilianne Sather, Larson Sather and great-grandson Benjamin Mazorol.

She is survived by siblings; Jean (Dick) Hazelton, Jim Husby (brother-in-law), Suzie Barthel, Caryn Quella (sister-in-law), Carl (Barb) Quella and many very special nieces and nephews.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Martha Quella, her sister Gretchen, and brother John.

P.S. There’s tons more… but she hated balloons.

The family thanks the wonderful staff at the Classic Memory Care in Altoona for their compassion and care during Anne’s final year.

Should friends and family desire, contributions can be sent in Anne’s name to First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703.

Memorial service will take place at 11 am on Friday, December 29, 2017, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 310 Broadway Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703 with the Rev. Dr. Mark X. Pirazzini officiating.  Visitation will take place at the church on Friday (12/29) from 10 am until the time of service. Private family committal services will take place at a later time in the First Congregational UCC Memorial Gardens.

Thoughts and prayers to Anne's family. Anne was such a warm and loving person. Even though she could not always communicate with her voice she was observant and knew what was going on. I miss seeing her wonderful smile and warm greetings and her presence at lunch time. She seemed to look out for my aunt Alice whenever they were together. So grateful to have known this wonderful lady. R.I.P. dear Anne.
