Juanita Peterson, October 15, 1919 - March 1, 2018

Juanita Peterson

Juanita Grace (Anderson) Peterson, 98, died peacefully on March 1, 22018.  She was born in Purgittsville, West Virginia on October 15, 1919, to Beulah (Riggs) and Samuel C. Anderson.

Juanita is survived by her daughter, Karen Peterson Welch and son-in-love, Jack Parr of Eau Claire; her grandchildren, Peter Welch (Al Troub) of San Diego, Paul Welch (Melissa Arneson) of Franklin, NC, Sarah Welch (Rick Dombkiewicz) of Cornell, David (Libby) Welch of Lake Hallie, Aaron Welch of Marco Island, FL and John Welch of Altoona; great-grandchildren, Michael and Amanda Dombkiewicz and Emily, James and Jenna Welch; and many nephews, nieces and great-nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Peterson; her parents and parents-in-law; her sister and broth-in-law, Ramona and W.C. Brock and her brothers Raymond (Helen) Anderson and Truitt Anderson.

The third of four children, Juanita, and her family moved to Akron, Ohio, where she grew up and graduated from West High School.  She met and married Jim Peterson in Columbus, Ohio in 1943, where their daughter was born.  When World War II ended, they moved to Madison, WI where she lived for sixty-five more years.  During those years, she worked for Eldon B. Russell & Assoc. and subsequent mortgage originators until she retired in 1984.  She loved to travel with friends and family, visited five continents and fifty U. S. states, and enjoyed keeping in touch with friends from all over the world.  In 2008, she moved to Eau Claire to live near her daughter and family.  She enjoyed good health and made many fond memories there as well.

Her family extends deep gratitude to the amazing staff of the memory care facility at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens and to her loving care team of Mayo Clinic Home and Health and Hospice.  These angels helped guide her through a joyful year and a half and a peaceful passing.

A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at her daughter’s home in May.

As I frequently help my aunt at lunch at the Classic I had the pleasure of Juanita's company. She was always so pleasant and had such a beautiful smile. My aunt and I will miss her. Thoughts and prayers to the family.
